Online court records do not indicate whether he was granted bond or if he had an attorney. Sutter is scheduled for a probable cause conference at 8:30 a.m. Wriggelsworth announced the arrest in a press conference inside the sheriff's office. "He went by the name Gerry, and his nickname was Dewey." "Anyone who has played, or has children who played sports in this area, likely has had games officiated by Sutter," Wriggelsworth said. In executing the search warrant, officers and deputies found evidence and information that Wriggelsworth said leads them to believe there's a potential for "numerous other victims in and around our community." The assaults occurred at Sutter's home, the sheriff said. The boy was 16 years old at the time of the abuse. The two counts of first-degree criminal sexual assault and one count of third-degree criminal sexual assault were in connection with one reported victim and occurred between 2019 to 2021, Wriggelsworth said. They’ve got to find a way to somehow not have that become the story of the rest of their season."It appeared he was trying to befriend, primarily, young male victims, and kind of shower them with gifts and attention and other things like that to start building that relationship, all with the intent of potentially grooming them for these nefarious acts," Wriggelsworth said. They were the better team for most of the night and just made too many critical mistakes and didn’t have enough offensive punch to overcome it. The Spartans let Saturday night’s game get away. Because there are some seriously manageable games ahead - against Rutgers, Minnesota, Nebraska and Indiana. MSU had a chance to win a game that, while it wouldn’t have fundamentally changed the season, would have changed the vibe for the next two weeks while giving the Spartans a realistic shot at getting to six wins and a bowl game. RELATED: Couch: 3 quick takes on Michigan State's 26-16 loss at Iowa BOTTOM LINE It’s hard to find much fault with Scottie Hazelton’s defense. And the special teams units, until those last two punts, were fantastic. But late in the game, they’ve got to do more to get that passing game going, no matter who’s under center. I thought offensive coordinator Jay Johnson did do a good job early on getting quarterback Noah Kim into rhythm and utilizing tight end Maliq Carr, before Carr was injured. In trying to gain momentum, MSU cost itself game control. And if you’re going to go for it, give it to Nathan Carter (who'd been gaining more than five yards per carry) or come up with something more creative than using your undersized QB on a sneak from that spot. Iowa lost five yards on its next possession and still managed a 53-yard field goal. When you’re playing against this Iowa offense, winning and losing is a field-position game. Harlon Barnett said he wanted give his team a chance to get some momentum and that he thought they could pick up less than a yard. ![]() The decision to go for it on fourth-and-1 from MSU’s own 30-yard line while leading 16-10 in the third quarter seemed like an emotional decision after the Spartans thought they picked up the first down on a 14-yard run on third down. This coaching staff has to get this group to somehow improve its focus on details. Issues with discipline continue to cripple the Spartans. MSU’s kicking game nearly won this game, until it lost it. His 15-yard punt midway through the fourth quarter set up Iowa’s game-tying field goal and his final punt, a 48-yard line drive to the wrong side of the field, left MSU’s coverage team vulnerable to the 70-yard game-winning touchdown return. If Ryan Eckley’s last two punts were of the quality of his punts throughout the rest of the game, MSU wins Saturday. Anytime you make a 58-yard field goal, make three of four field goals overall, and have three booming punts that pin your opponent back inside the 10-yard line and you wind up with this modest grade … something went wrong at the end of the game. ![]()
